Interests & Expertise

Observational Astronomy

Observational astronomy is one of my core interests, including the development of instrumentation, the nitty-gritty of calibration pipelines, and the analysis of the data itself. As both PI and co-I, I have won time and been a part of observing campaigns on telescopes such as NASA IRTF, Apache Point Observatory's 3.5-m telescope, Keck/NIRSPEC, JWST, and ALMA.

Planetary Science

I primarily study Gas and Ice Giant atmospheres, their weather layers, circulation patterns, colors, and how all these properties are tied to planetary meteorology and bulk characterstics. A long-term goal has been the identification of Jupiter's chromophore and its relationship to dynamical timescales.

Protoplanetary Disks

Most recently I have delved into studying the innermost regions of protoplanetary disks, where near-IR observations can illuminate these cradles of planetary formation through the way in which CO gas (a main carbon carrier) varies with radius.

Mentorship & Outreach

A highlight of my career so far has been the opportunities to work with students and the public. I take my responsibilities as a mentor seriously, and work hard to make sure each student I work with becomes a better scientist.
